Training Opportunities on Climate-Resilient Livelihoods Through the Development of Small and Medium Agribusiness Enterprises

8 December 2022, Geneva, Switzerland - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) launched a new initiative to support climate-resilient livelihood development in Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The overall objective is to inspire and empower women and youth to address key social, economic, and environmental challenges in their communities through climate-resilient livelihood and entrepreneurship programs. Up to 50 participants per country will be selected to join the program. Women and youth who are currently engaged or plan to engage in farming, agribusiness, small business, or entrepreneurship activity are encouraged to apply. Additional requirements include the ability to communicate in English, being computer literate, with a college degree or equivalent, being committed to completing the program, and being passionate to succeed and provide a positive impact on their community. Selected participants will also be required to provide a recommendation letter from an individual with verifiable credentials.
Program phases
- Phase 1: February to May 2022 – Agribusiness and SME development training
- Phase 2: May to June 2023 – Start-up and SME expansion training
- Phase 3: July 2023 – Coaching session
