Police confirm the arrest of Innocent Kakarahwa aged 50 of New Magwegwe. Bulawayo in connection with a case of unlawful detention of two minors and having sexual intercourse with a young person. The two complainants are aged 15 and 14 respectively, both reside at Magwegwe North Bulawayo and they are friends.

Sometime in November 2024, the two complainants who were from Magwegwe North going to Lobengula West met the accused person who was driving along Intemba road. The accused person offered transport to complainants and they agreed. On their way to Lobengula West the accused person showed interest in the complainants. He promised to secure jobs for them since the complainants lied to the accused persons that they were looking for jobs.

They exchanged cell phone, numbers, and the accused person left and proceeded with his journey. On the 2nd day of December 2024 around 1130 hours, the accused person phoned the complainants and requested to see them. The accused person promised to pick up the two complainants around 1400 hours at Konron Shopping Centre Lobengula West Bulawayo however he delayed until 2000 hours.

The accused person took the two complainants to Donnington West Bulawayo where he gave them a room to sleep and food and he then left. On the 3id day of December 2024 around 2000 hours he proceeded back to where he left them and took one of the complainants out of the room and proceeded to his vehicle which was parked outside the building and adjusted the seat backwards and requested sexual intercourse with her and she agreed.

The accused had sexual intercourse with the complainant once with protection. After the act, the complainant returned to the room where the other complainant was and the accused person left. On the 5th of December 2024 around 0800 hours the accused went back where he had left the complainants, who then decided to call their parents and ask for forgiveness.

The accused person directed the complainants that they should not expose him. The accused drove the complainant to town and gave them US $2 for transport to their respective residential areas. The complainants related the incident to their parents and a police report was then made leading to the arrest of the accused person.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to teach their children not to trust strangers so as to avoid such incidents. Members of the public are also warned not to take advantage of innocent children especially girls as the arm of law will catch up with them.
